Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Istiqamah: Steadfast (also called "Istiqamah" or the "App"), operated by Istiqamah ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. The App
Istiqamah is an Islamic spiritual-growth and productivity app. It includes features such as habit tracking, prayer-time tools, adhkar, Qur'an reading, Tafsir, audio, Tajweed learning, Recitation Coach Beta, Qibla, reflections, family journeys, reminders, Live Activities, Focus Shield, Salah Shield, and Premium subscription features.
The App supports personal spiritual growth. It is not a substitute for qualified religious, legal, medical, mental-health, financial, or other professional advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be able to enter into a binding agreement in your country or have permission from a parent or guardian to use the App. If you use family or child-profile features, you are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate authority to enter and manage that information.
3. Accounts and Sign-In
The App uses third-party authentication services, including Clerk, Apple Sign-In, and Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining access to your Apple, Google, or other sign-in account and for activity under your account.
4. Premium Subscriptions
Istiqamah may offer Premium subscriptions through the Apple App Store. Subscription options may include weekly, monthly, annual, trial, or other plans shown in the App Store purchase sheet.
Subscription details, including price, trial availability, renewal period, and cancellation terms, are shown before confirmation in Apple's purchase flow. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, or as otherwise described by Apple.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings. The App includes Restore Purchases to recover active entitlements where available. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's App Store policies.
5. App Store Terms
If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, your use of the App is also subject to Apple's applicable App Store terms, including any standard Apple End User License Agreement unless a custom EULA is separately provided.
6. Permissions
Some features require optional permissions:
- Location: used for prayer times, Salah-related reminders, and Qibla direction.
- Notifications: used for local reminders.
- Camera: used for optional Salah Shield prayer-mat confirmation.
- Microphone: used only when you choose to record Quran recitation.
- Screen Time access: used only for App Shield selections and schedules you configure.
- Live Activities: used for Lock Screen and Dynamic Island guidance you enable.
You can deny or later change permissions in iOS Settings.
7. Local Data and Reset
The App stores many settings and progress records locally on your device, including habit progress, reflections, family profiles, reminder preferences, Qur'an reading progress, Salah settings, and shield preferences. Deleting the App, resetting local data, or signing out using cleanup flows may remove local data.
This does not necessarily delete records held by third-party services such as Clerk, Apple, Google, or RevenueCat.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App unlawfully or harmfully.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, attack, overload, or disrupt the App or its services.
- Misrepresent your identity or misuse authentication/payment systems.
- Use the App in a way that infringes the rights of others.
- Circumvent subscription, entitlement, or access controls.
9. Content and Religious Material
The App includes Islamic reminders, journeys, Qur'an reading features, and related spiritual content. We aim to provide beneficial and respectful content, but mistakes may occur. For religious questions, rulings, or personal circumstances, consult qualified scholars or trusted local guidance.
The Straight Path is a reflective visualisation only. It does not measure or determine faith, guidance, spiritual worth, divine reward, or acceptance. Missing or incomplete records must not be interpreted as a judgement about the user.
Recitation Coach is a beta practice aid. Its automated feedback can miss issues or suggest review where none is needed. It does not certify Tajweed, pronunciation or makhraj and does not replace a qualified Quran teacher.
10. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services, including Clerk, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, alquran.cloud, and Quran Foundation for licensed Qur'an commentary. Their services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies.
11. Availability and Changes
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
12. Disclaimer
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Istiqamah will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of access, lost profits, or personal/religious decisions made using the App.
14. Account Deletion and Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. In the app, Settings > Delete Account offers permanent account deletion when supported by the sign-in provider and explains that App Store subscriptions are managed separately in Apple subscription settings.
Termination or account deletion does not automatically cancel App Store subscriptions. You must cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
15. Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at the Terms URL used by the App and App Store listing.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
